Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and features hundreds of bloggers sounding off on various top ten lists. This week’s topic is Top Ten Books When You Need Something Light and Fun. I’m excited for this topic not because I feel I have tons of great recommendations for today’s lists, but because I need some light and fun recommendations in my life(as you’ll see by the fact I have less than 10 books on this list!)
1. Going Vintage by Lindsay Leavitt
As soon as I saw this week’s topic, Going Vintage was the first book I thought about. It’s fun, a little dramatic(in a good, over-the-top, fun way), and just cute, which is not a word I normally apply to books, but it fits this one so well. Going Vintage would be the perfect pick-me-up book.
2. Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham
I surprised myself by liking Someday, Someday Maybe as much as I did. It’s a little more serious than some other books on this lists, but still fairly light overall. I found the main character in this book really endearing.
3. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer Smith
This book is what launched the creation of my “Bad Day Reads” shelf on Goodreads. It’s become one of my go-to reads on bad days. Hadley and Oliver deal with some serious things, but the romance between them is adorable and fun. I loved watching them banter back and forth.
4. All-American Girl by Meg Cabot
This is such a fun book! It’s been awhile since I’ve read it, but I remember repeatedly checking it out of my library. I remember really liking Samantha and then ended up loving David and their relationship.
5. Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
This book is really the only reason I decided to give Cinder a chance(and boy am I glad I did!) because it made me realize I could like fairy-tale, and mainly Cinderella, retellings. It’s definitely a middle grade book, and quite a young one at that, but I still read and enjoy it.
