Sunday-Wrap-up-2

My Week

Honestly, my week has been quite stressful, mostly because of work stuff. I won’t get into it because 1)it’s boring, and 2)I don’t want to think about it more than I have to, but let me just say, the hardest part of my job is definitely coming up. Of course, since this is part of a year-long program and I finish it July, it makes sense the most difficult part is towards the end. But I’ve been stressed between that + getting ready to move apartments in two weeks.

On a bright note, I hit my Camp NaNoWriMo goal of 20,000 words on a new story! That was definitely the bright spot of my week.

On Book Blog Bake

On Monday I reviewed Independent Study by Joelle Charbonneau. I wasn’t such a fan.
On Tuesday I shared my top ten book picks if you like Supernatural!
Wednesday I reviewed The Art of Wishing by Lindsay Ribar. I HIGHLY recommend this one if you haven’t read it already!
Thursday I shared my April wrap-up.
Friday I reviewed My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi. It was a surprisingly five star.
Saturday I reviewed The Chapel Wars by Lindsay Leavitt. I liked it, but I couldn’t get behind the romance.

Favorite 5

Diversity and Fantasy and “The Other” @ (Pub)lishing Crawl

Considering the We Need Diverse Books campaign that’s currently happening, I thought this was a great read, especially for a writing perspective. My current work in progress–my Camp NaNo story–has a very diverse cast. And the worry about “getting it right” can be difficult to overcome, so I really appreciated this perspective.

How to Restart a Bad/Annoying/Unproductive Day @ Yes and Yes

Not book related, but I loved this post. I’m also one of those people who tends to just chalk up a whole day as a write-off if I’m not productive by 10:00 AM. Doesn’t have to be that way!

Oh, Those Hateful Characters @ Oh, the Books!

I really love certain books with characters I can’t stand(like Gillian Flynn’s!). I think for me, I can handle unlikable characters. I can’t stand annoying characters. Just give me interesting stories!

Brefriended: Talking Friendship with Author Emory Lord @ Rather Be Reading

I LOVED Open Road Summer, and this post made me so happy!

We Need Diverse Books + 27 PoC Authors @ Novel Sounds

Another great post considering the We Need Diverse Campaigns. I totally vouch for Aristotle and Dante Discover the Universe as well as Charm & Strange from this list if you decide to pick one of these books up. And I really want to read Pointe.

The Purpose of Blogging @ The Grown-Up YA

I’m getting out of my mini-blogging slump, I think, but I still really appreciate this post and getting back to the basics.

Book Deals

A new part of my wrap-up! I won’t do it every week, but if I see good book deals, I’ll put them here. Probably mostly Amazon, because I have a kindle, but if I see others I’ll list them too. Disclaimer: Prices may change from when I post this, so you may want to double-check!
