A December 2013 Wrap-Up

In My Life

WHOA. You know what I did in December? I troubleshooted problems. With the blog, with my kindle, with planes, with work. . . I’ve had a great 2013, but the way it’s wrapped up hasn’t been so wonderful, if I’m being honest. BUT of course it’s the Holiday time so I got to do Christmas and Holiday stuff as well, which was all fun. My Christmas CD(my ONE mix CD with Christmas music!) got to come out of the CD holder in my car(yeah, I still have one of those). I also did stuff like decorate cookies with my roommates and attempt(and fail) to make a book tree.

I also had the flu for like the first time in ten years, so yeah, there’s that. 2013 was tough but wonderful for the most part, but man, this month.

HOWEVER, Christmas towards the end of the month was absolutely wonderful. I loved getting to go home & spend time with my family, and getting a new bookcase was like icing on an already delicious cake.

I watched

Still watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, since it was my reward for finishing a draft. I’ve finished through season 2 and I’m in the middle of season 3 now. I have been so behind on other shows that I haven’t even attempted to stay up to date with the only two currently airing shows I watch–Sleepy Hollow and Supernatural. I’ll catch up in the new year, though!

Of course, it was Christmas time, so I had to watch Muppet Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Holiday. I also rewatched–a few times–my all-time favorite movie, Singing in the Rain.

I listened

Mostly just Christmas music, of course, like the rest of the world. Fun fact: My favorite Christmas hymn is I heard the Bells on Christmas Day. I don’t really like the popular version that most people may have heard, though, and I can’t find any good version on YouTube. Still one of my favorites, though!

I also listened to The Book Thief soundtrack a lot on Spotify. I loved the movie, and the score is wonderful as well. I don’t really want to pull a track because it sounds better if you listen to it together, but yes, it’s a wonderful score. The music is subtle, but beautiful.

Hmm, not really a discussion but I’m gonna go with the end-of-year survey! Surveys are just fun.

YOUR TURN: What’s your favorite book you read this month? Did you have a good Holiday season? Any fun Holiday-related incidents? What’s your favorite Christmas carol?

  1. I got the flu a few years ago, and it was the worst! It was the one year that I couldn’t get the flu shot and of course I got the flu. I felt like death warmed over. I am glad to hear that you are doing better for the new year! 🙂

Ugh. I feel I get the flu regardless of whether I get the flu shot or not–in fact, except for this year, the three times before that I’ve had the flu where the only years I got the flu shot. sigh.

I really did! Having a week off really helped, and I’m impressed with how many of my reads this month were 4 stars. I feel like Dash & Lily is the book people either LOVE or can’t STAND. I haven’t seen hardly any middle reviews for it.
