Sunday-Wrap-up-2

My Week

Well, first off, I’m playing with the formatting of these weekly wrap-up posts, so bear with me while I figure out what the heck I want these posts. Not much to talk about in my week. My blog was down again on Monday(boo), but I think my host & I have finally, finally fixed the problem for good(fingers crossed). So yay! I’ve also been sick with what I believe is the flu, which means I had to miss a couple of days of work. Boo! It was probably the worst time to actually get sick since I’m already gone for one week this month for Christmas vacation, and another week for a work-related conference. By the end I think I’ll possibly have spent like ten days in the office this month? Scary.

On Book Blog Bake

Oh hey, did you know I celebrated my FIRST blogoversary on Monday? There’s an international giveaway and a US-only giveaway both up for grabs!
On Tuesday I shared ten new-to-me authors for 2013.
On Wednesday I reviewed The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle.
Thursday I filled out Jamie’s End-of-the-Year survey(and had a blast doing so!)
Friday I reviewed This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales.
Saturday I looked at 10 of my favorite books I read this year and see how they stand up in my mind now.

booksread

Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Bellman & Black by Diane Setterfield
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan(DNF-ed)
Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

I also like to re-read my favorite series every year during December, The Chronicles of Narnia. Oh, childhood memories! So this week I read The Magician’s Nephew(skimmed, really. I have to admit this one is my least favorite), and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

booksboughtreceived
I didn’t buy any, but I did receive a few.
From Netgalley, for review:
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
The Here and Now by Anne Brashares
I also received my The Broke and the Bookish Secret Santa, and I received:
Legend by Marie Lu
Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard(signed! I’m so excited. I love Susan Dennard. Her website has some awesome revision resources for writers).
I also received the most awesome Doctor Who post-its, but that’s not really bookish. Just epic.
Favorite 5
Once upon a time, I was really great at linking to other discussions and such in these weekly wrap-up posts, but then other people came along and I thought they did it much better, so I stopped. I’d like to get back into linking, though, so I decided to start sharing my favorite 5 things around the internet each week–may be other book blogger’s posts, may be just a really well-written article, etc. And some weeks there may be more than five, but I feel like five is a good number so each week I can easily link to at least five things.
A Reminder: You Get to Chose What Your Holidays Look Like @ Yes and Yes
This post was so timely! I love the Holidays, but I’m not immune to Holiday stress. I love the idea of getting to chose what my holidays look like(because it’s true!). What I’ve had to accept this means for me this year is buying very few gifts–only those for my closet relatives. As much as I love giving pretty much everyone I’ve ever met presents, it’s really not an option this year financially and this was a great reminder that you know what, that’s okay.
Fresh from the Oven: Empire Biscuits @ Pop! Goes the Reader
Jen shared this holiday cookie recipe and I am going to get on this straight away. These cookies look delicious, and they have a pretty short ingredient list.
My Favorite People in Publishing Share Their 2013 Favorites @ The Perpetual Page Turner<
This was SUCH an interesting posts! Jamie got a good handful of people from all different publishing houses to talk about what books they loved, both those that their house published and books published elsewhere.
Darcy the Flying Hedgehog is the BEST use of instagram
Guys, I LOVE hedgehogs, and these instagram feed is dedicated entirely to Darcy the Hedgehog. The pictures are beautiful and hedgehogs are both amazing and adorable. Pardon me while I squee.
The Novel Hermit’s 1 Year Blogovesary and Books, Tea, and Me’s 2 year Blogoversary
Not only do I have a blogoversary this week, but two of my blogging friends are celebrating blogoversaries as well! You should definitely check them out if you don’t know them already, and enter their awesome celebration giveaways for sure!

  1. Ah I love rereading The Chronicles of Narnia too! It’s one of my all time favorites. Think it’s be a good time for me to reread it… 🙂 And (if I already wished you one sorry) but Happy Blogoversary! Lol

Thank you! And yes, I love re-reading Narnia, especially around Christmas. I know the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the only one that really includes Christmas, but I can’t help but to think of the entire series in December.

  2. Oh yay! I cannot wait to read We Were Liars. I’ve heard nothing but good things!
WOOO so happy for your first blogoversary! That’s so exciting! I’m so glad I got to know you and your blog this year 😀

Oh man, you should have seen my happy dance when I was approved for We Were Liars. I decided I didn’t care how far out it was, I was reading it immediately! And thank you, Brittany!
