Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Well, for those of us here in the USA. To be completely honest, Thanksgiving has never been my favorite Holiday. I find the idea of being thankful by being gluttonous a little weird. It’s always seemed to me like the idea is “I’m thankful for everything I have! So I’m going to cook EVERYTHING and we’re going to eat ALL the food. Maybe watch ALL the football.” When you add in Black Friday and such. . . just not a favorite of mine. That being said, I like the idea of giving thanks all the time, so in recent years I’ve tried to be more on board with Thanksgiving, which is why I’m scheduling a post for today: I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone I’ve met in the blogging community, everyone who’s stopped by Book.Blog.Bake, and everyone I talk to on twitter.

My blogoversary is coming up and feeling gratitude for the book blogging community is something I’ve been thinking about. I’m sure there will be more gushing in December, but I can do multiple thank-yous. So here is my final thank-you for today. I’m a Texas girl–I was raised on the idea of sending out hand-written thank you cards, so dear internet, please consider this my virtual equivalent.

THANK YOU if. . .

You’ve read a single post on Book.Blog.Bake.

You’ve answered a question I had.

You’ve recommended a book to me.

You’ve commented on a post.

You comment regularly.

We chat on twitter.

You’ve shared one of my posts on twitter, your own blog, etc.

You’ve supported me in this first year of blogging.

And with that being said, I’m off to try and round up some great Thanksgiving spirit(and if I can’t quite get there, well, at least I get to decorate for Christmas tomorrow, right?)

  1. As I have gotten older, I have begun to like Thanksgiving more. Some years I have been able to go home, and I appreciate being able to spend time with my family since I can’t see them as often. Some years I spend with my friends and since we are all poor grad students, we appreciate whatever dishes people are able to bring and to be able to spend a little time relaxing together.

Aw, that sounds nice. For some reason, Thanksgiving is the Holiday that has always made my family testy–maybe because of the stress? You would think Christmas would be stressful too, but it always seems relaxing for my family. Probably because Christmas is just my immediate family and Thanksgiving is often(though not this year) my extended family. I only live three hours from my family, so I get to see them more often(though sometimes it doesn’t feel often enough).

  2. I like Thanksgiving because it isn’t as crazy as a lot of other winter holidays. I find it very relaxing. Then again, I don’t watch football, and prefer to spend Thanksgiving afternoon curled up with a good book and a cup of tea. Dinner this year is also very low-key–just my boyfriend and I, so no need to stress about when things will be done or how to feed a small army of people. 🙂

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, it’s past now, but I want to say your Thanksgiving sounds so nice! I curled up with a good book and apple cider this year(and my family was pretty quiet during the football games, so yay reading time!).

  3. Yay, Stormy!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!! I’m so glad we’ve gotten to be friends and chat and comment throughout this last year! I feel like you’re one of my closest blogging buddies with all our Twitter chats and similar reading tastes and posting Ichabod posts on the same day HAHA! 🙂 I’ve loved reading your blog and am so thankful for our friendship! 🙂

I am thankful for you and our friendship as well! I still remember feeling SO overwhelmed by the vast number of book bloggers at first and thinking I would never ACTUALLY get to the point where I would feel comfortable talking to anyone, and I remember that you and a few others were sort of the first to really interact with me. I’m very thankful for that and of course mutual Ichabod(and Thorne!) admiration. 🙂

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! I personally like Black Friday (the insane crowds not so much though) but Thanksgiving was never my favorite holiday either. It always felt like something that was just in the way of Christmas, though this year I’ve learned to appreciate Thanksgiving more for what it is. Happy first year of blogging as well!

I went Black Friday shopping once. I tend to get anxious around large crowds of people, so Black Friday is not for me(unless it’s happening online). And yes, Thanksgiving always seems to be that pesky holiday we have to get out of the way before Christmas!
