Time Travel Thursdays

timetravelthursday

Have I mentioned lately how much I love the concept of time travel as it is explored in fiction and other forms of media? I haven’t? Well, I’ll say it again: I love time travel. Happy time travel, sad time travel, beginning-of-the-universe time travel, end-of-the-world time travel, I love it it all. This is a rather new love of mine–probably in the last 7 or 8 months(and is why I decided to give Doctor Who a chance after avoiding it for so long), and I want to keep exploring it. So I present to you. . .

Time.Travel.Thursdays.

Like most of my features, I doubt this will be quite weekly(because I’m a mood blogger), but on a good deal of Thursdays, I plan on showcasing time-related things here. Maybe books, maybe other finds, just anything time travel related! So I thought I’d kick the feature off with *drumroll*

A Very Timey-Wimey Playlist

A.K.A. songs that have to deal with time or make me think of time or time travel in some way. I’m using the Doctor Who phrasing, of course, but this isn’t a Doctor Who playlist. Sadly, there are few songs about time travel. BUT lots of songs that have to do with time or mention time, and since we’re all moving through time in a very linear fashion, it is a travel of sorts, right? Yes, yes it is. And yes, there are some repeated artists.

 There’s a Spotify Playlist HERE!

1. Turn! Turn! Turn! by The Byrds

To everything (turn turn turn)
There is a season(turn turn turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven

2. Tell Me a Story by Phillip Phillips

Tell you a story and it starts with time
moves to how you live and learn how to die
another phase in this world that brings death to life

3. It’s Not My Time by 3 Doors Down

Cause it’s not my time, I’m not going
There’s a fear in me and it’s not showing
This could be the end of me And everything I know,
ooh, but I won’t go

4. Satellites by Matthew Perryman Jones

Do you feel like you’re in control
There is a limit to what gravity can hold
Do you want me
How do you ever choose
Between the present and the future you can’t prove

5. Clocks by Coldplay

Confusion never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know, singing

6. Don’t Slow Down by Copeland

Cause your words hit like a train and I can’t ignore it
This moment could be our last
You fall in love and I’m running after
You move way too fast

7. Hanging by a Moment by Lifehouse

I’m falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I’ve held on to
I’m standing here until you make me move
I’m hanging by a moment here with you

 8. Broken by Lifehouse

The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
I am here still waiting though i still have my doubts
I am damaged at best, like you’ve already figured out

9. 100 Years by Five for Fighting

15 there’s still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there’s never a wish better than this
When you only got a hundred years to live

10. It’s Time by Imagine Dragons

It’s time to begin, isn’t it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I’ll admit
I’m just the same as I was
Now don’t you understand
That I’m never changing who I am

11. Round and Round by Imagine Dragons

Round and round
I won’t run away this time
Till you show me what this life is for
Round and round
I’m not gonna let you change my mind
Till you show me what this life is for

12. Blink by Revive

It happens in a blink, it happens in a flash
It happens in the time it took to look back
I try to hold on tight, but there’s no stopping time
What is it I’ve done with my life?

13. Can’t Catch Tomorrow(Good Shoes Won’t Save You This Time) by Lostprophets

I think you’re gonna find
With everything combined
that the time’s running out of this line

Congrats! You’ve made it to the end of the first Time Travel Thursday. I hope you enjoyed your trip through the A Very Timey-Wimey Playlist!

Haha I love this idea! I actually haven’t read many time travel books (or like any, not that I can think of) and so I tend to miss out on this love. But hey, I can still appreciate this song list! It’s sort of bad because I haven’t heard most of these, I’ll have to check them out on Spotify.

I can’t wait to see what you do for this feature next!

Yeah, I know time travel isn’t always the most popular plot device for readers(unless it’s hardcore Sci-fi), so I’ve been making posts that celebrate my love of all things time travel but working to make it in a way I think non time travel-lovers can appreciate. And yes, check them out on Spotify! I have very eclectic music taste & I tried to choose songs that wouldn’t make people think I was too odd in my music selection, haha(except I think I ended up with my loved, but odd music anyway).

  2. Shannelle C. (The Tracery of Ink)

I am so going to listen to the songs by Lifehouse and Imagine Dragons. I love the two, but I only know so many of their songs.

Thank you for such an interesting playlist!

  3. I’ve only read one book about time travel but I think I can still enjoy this playlist! I can NEVER stay away from playlists especially ones that reference to Doctor Who in their title. And ones that have Imagine Dragons. And Phillip Phillips. And Coldplay. And Lifehouse. TOO AWESOME!

I definitely made a pretty general time-oriented playlist, so I hope you enjoy! And yes to the bands! I love when I meet people who have similar music taste to me!

Yay, I’m glad you like the feature. Time Travel is just such a FUN plot device sometimes(you know, when it’s not heart breaking and destroying the world). One of the two!
