I’ve been going through my top 25 songs and pairing them with books! Here’s installment three; you can find my top 5 songs and book pairings and songs 6-10 and book pairings.
11. Out of the Shadows by Matthew Perryman Jones
Book Pairing: Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
This song’s definitely a bit slower than is really fitting for Samantha, at least at the beginning of the novel. I think “Out of the Shadows” is a great idea for the change that Samantha undergoes as she repeats the same day over and over.
12. Meant to Live by Switchfoot
Book Pairing: The Compound by S.A. Bodeen
This book is PERFECT for this song. The journey that Eli undergoes is pretty much every question that this song ask. Realizing that he was meant for something more than the compound is much of what drives the action in the novel.
13. Roll Away Your Stone by Mumford & Sons
Book Pairing:Cinder by Marissa Meyer
A big part of Cinder is Cinder figuring out who she is, and I think that’s a theme that’s definitely at play in this song as well.
14. Yet by Switchfoot
Book Pairing: A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeleine L’Engle
Yet sounds a bit sadder than the overall tone of A Swiftly Tilting Planet, but I still think it’s fitting. Things haven’t worked out so far, but there’s still a few more attempts left before all hope is lost. This is one of my favorite songs as well as my favorite books.
15. Don’t Slow Down by Copeland
Book Pairing: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I think this song works really well for Juliet in general but also her relationship with Adam. I like the idea of falling in love so fast, but not wanting to slow down.

I love this post, it was a lot of fun seeing the songs match up with the books! 🙂 I just followed your blog via WordPress/email! ~ Alice @ Alice in Readerland
It was fun to write; I feel like many people make these awesome book playlist, so I wanted to see if I could start with the songs first and find books to match! The 2nd set was challenging, but these went quickly!
